1a) ABC1 - this term means that the class of the person is a high class meaning they have lots of money or a higher salary than others, this is their NRS social grades in society, this can be viewed in PamCo. These people tend to be technically inclined meaning they would view everything through the internet or online. This social grade is the most preferable in society. 

1b) Nuts magazine is a men populated magazine meaning the majority of men view the magazine, this is because the content on the magazine is glamorous women in revealing clothing. This is because the stereotypical male likes seeing women bodies in provocative clothing. 

Take a break magazine is a magazine that has more females viewing the content in the lower social grade. This means that the content in the magazine could have adverts that appeal to this type of people, this can be adverts for clothing at Primark, George etc. This is because the clothing and products at these shops are cheap and accessible to the lower social grade. 


2ai) BARB - Broadcasters Audience Research Board

ii) BARBs role is to give information on the UKs TV audience measurements accurately, classifies viewers on a particular programme.

b) The most popular genre of programme on the BBC1 is opera.

c) This is used so then they can advertise for the time that there are most viewers etc.


BBC is a public service broadcaster, they are funded by the TV license fee, not for profit company. Commercial, conglomerate 


3)BBC1s audience is aimed at middle aged women, this is because there are more soap operas broadcasted and they are educational.

Channel 4s audience is aimed at younger men mainly, for there is programmes such as MARVEL AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D being a male dominated audience. However, some females would also watch channel 4 because there are programmes such as Benefit street which features gossip. 


4a) Public Service Ownership means that all content is in the benefit of the audience and the BBC is an example of public service broadcaster, these are funded by the public. Educate, inform, entertain. 

4b) A conglomerate company has subsidiaries and can vertical integrated and horizontal integrated unlike an independent company that does not have these factors so cannot cross media production. 

5ai) Disney, Amazon, Alphabet, Sony, Microsoft

(ii) Disney uses synergy, this is where a company uses other companies to maximise the profit of a product. For example they do this through advertising movies such as Black Widow through merchandise, adverts on their subsidiaries (Disney+) and also through website marketing.
